Beverley -
Thanks for your interest in the XML editor I created. Do you know how to program in Flash? That is what I built the program in. I would be happy to hand it over to you to check out, I will want to go through it though and make sure things are commented well for you. How soon do you need to see it? I would also be willing to work with you on it if Flash is not your forte' - just let me know.

I have a hobby site where I have a community newsfeed that's fed across several similar hobby sites (its the popup on the home page). The problem is that editing the xml file code manually is fiddly so responsibility always lies with me to make edits, which I havent had chance to do for many months.
I'd like to make it easier so other users could edit it and add their won news. Would it be possible for me to get a copy of your software to test, and ultimately use, then everybody could contribute to the workload.

Please let me know if this is possible.

Kindest regards

I am glad it helped! Those Flash Components can be a nightmare. I am working with some of the Learning Interaction components now and those are even more fun!

I actually tried that as well. When I change it to AS2 I get "The component 'fl.video.FLVPlayback' requires ActionScript 3.0."

I've learned AS3 only so if you could pull one together that would be fantastic.

NW - the problem that you are probably running into is that you are publishing for AS3 and I originally wrote this in AS2. Go to you publish settings and change it to AS2 and it should work for you. Let me know if it doesn't or if you need help with an AS3 version of it, I could get one pulled together.

So I followed this and I keep getting a compiler error regarding the "Void" on line 4. It says: 1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant:Void.

Any thoughts?

Try this out:
var slidesNum:int = 1;
var mcString:String = "mc"+1;

var oMc1:MovieClip = new MovieClip();
oMc1.name = mcString;

Let me know if that is what you are trying to do. Without seeing more of your code I am not sure if that is what you will need.

Thanks!, this helps so much...but i have a new question. Im trying to create a new instance dinamicaly, like this:
----------------------------------
....
var slidesNum:int = 1;
var mcString = "mc"+1;
var oMc1:MovieClip = new[mcString]();
....
----------------------------------

and it returns this:
TypeError: Error #1007: Instantiation attempted on a non-constructor.

should this works?

Im really stuck... can u give-me a little hand?..(or a entire arm?)
